اجتمع الدكتور أحمد المنشاوي رئيس جامعة أسيوط؛ يوم الأربعاء ١٨ من سبتمبر؛ مع المقدم الدكتور محمد سعداوي، والنقيب حسام عبدالجبير بمركز الدفاع البيولوجي للأمراض المعدية بوزارة الدفاع؛ لمتابعة تطورات مشروع إنشاء المعمل الوطني لأبحاث الأمراض المعدية ذات مستوى الأمان الحيوي الثالث (BSL3) بجامعة أسيوط، والممول من هيئة تمويل العلوم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار؛ وذلك بحضور الدكتورة أسماء عبدالناصر الباحث الرئيس للمشروع.

وأكد الدكتور أحمد المنشاوي؛ حرص جامعة أسيوط على تعظيم أوجه التعاون البحثي المشترك، والقائم مع مركز الدفاع البيولوجي للأمراض المعدية بوزارة الدفاع، وتبادل الاستشارات العلمية، والدراسات البحثية التطبيقية؛ لافتاً أن ذلك يسهم في مواكبة التطور المتلاحق في مختلف المجالات العملية، والبحثية؛ لمجابهة الأزمات، والكوارث، والأمراض الوبائية.

وأوضح رئيس جامعة أسيوط؛ إن مشروع إنشاء المعمل الوطني لأبحاث الأمراض المعدية، يأتي في إطار حرص الجامعة على تطوير البنية التحتية العلمية، وتعزيز البحث العلمي، ودعم القدرات العلمية للباحثين في مختلف المجالات، والذي من المقرر أن يسهم المعمل في جعل جامعة أسيوط مركزاً عالمياً متميزاً؛ لتنفيذ المشروعات البحثية في مجال الأمراض المعدية، والفيروسات، وتنفيذ المشروعات البحثية في مجال الأمراض المعدية، والفيروسات، وتطوير تشخيصات، وعلاجات جديدة لهذه الأمراض.

وأشارت الدكتورة أسماء عبد الناصر؛ إن المعمل يستهدف التركيز على الأمراض التي تنتقل من الحيوانات إلى البشر، والتي لا تتوفر لها علاجات، أو لقاحات فعّالة حاليًا، مؤكدة على أن المعمل سوف يُسهم في تطوير تشخيصات، وعلاجات جديدة لهذه الأمراض ليس على مستوى مصر فقط، بل على مستوى الشرق الأوسط ، وأفريقيا.

Dr. Al-Manshawi: The laboratory contributes to the implementation of research projects in the field of infectious diseases and viruses and the development of new diagnoses and treatments for these diseases

Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, met today, Wednesday, September 18, with Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Mohammed Saadawi, and Capt. Hossam Abdul Jubeir at the Biological Defense Center for Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Defense; to follow up on the developments of the project to establish the National Laboratory for Infectious Diseases Research with Biosafety Level III (BSL3) at Assiut University, funded by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority; in the presence of Prof. Asmaa Abdul Nasser, the main researcher of the project.

Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the keenness of Assiut University to maximize the aspects of joint research cooperation, established with the Biological Defense Center for Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Defense, and the exchange of scientific consultations and applied research studies, pointing out that this contributes to keeping pace with the successive development in various practical and research fields; to confront crises, disasters, and epidemic diseases.

The President of Assiut University explained that the project to establish the National Laboratory for Infectious Diseases Research comes within the framework of the university’s keenness to develop the scientific infrastructure, enhance scientific research, and support the scientific capabilities of researchers in various fields, which scheduled to contribute to making Assiut University a distinguished global center; to implement research projects in the field of infectious diseases and viruses, and implement research projects in the field of infectious diseases and viruses, and develop new diagnoses and treatments for these diseases.

Prof. Asma Abdel Nasser pointed out that the laboratory aims to focus on diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans, which are not currently available treatments or effective vaccines, stressing that the laboratory will contribute to the development of new diagnoses and treatments for these diseases not only at the level of Egypt but also at the level of the Middle East and Africa.
